Coal Mine Support Engineering

May 10, 2023

Glass fiber reinforcement is a new type of support material, which can replace traditional steel reinforcement, because it has the advantages of light weight, corrosion resistance, high strength, etc., and does not generate sparks, which can effectively prevent gas explosion accidents.

The following is an engineering case of glass fiber reinforcement used in coal mine support.

In 2019, a coal mine used glass fiber bars for support when excavating the coal wall. The type of glass fiber reinforcement used in this mine is GFRP-16/13, which has passed the national coal safety product certification.

After actual use, the mine engineer reported that the glass fiber reinforcement has the advantages of convenient use, high construction efficiency and low cost. At the same time, the glass fiber reinforcement can also effectively control the deformation of the coal wall and the expansion of cracks.

The mine uses fiberglass bars for coal wall support and has achieved good results. The support effect is stable, and there is no support failure.

This case shows that glass fiber bars can effectively replace traditional steel bars and become a new material for coal mine support.
